[Solved] iPW2100-fw and iPW2200-fw Removed
#1
Hey y'all

The iPW2100-fw and iPW2200-fw have been removed from Arch Repositories. They are firmware for the following older Intel wireless devices:

Intel PRO/Wireless 2100 802.11b chipset.
Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 802.11bg and 2915 802.11a/bg chipsets.

Unless you have that hardware in your machine, you can safely remove both packages via this command :
sudo pacman -R ipw2100-fw ipw2200-fw

I would say if you have such device your inxi -Na output would show something like this:

Quote:Network:
  Device-2: Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG [Calexico2] Network Connection
    driver: ipw2200 v: in-tree:ds pcie: gen: 1 speed: 2.5 GT/s
    lanes: 1 bus-ID: 03:00.0 chip-ID: 8086:4220 class-ID:12f6

Network:
  Device-2: Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapterr
    driver: ipw2100 v: in-tree:ds pcie: gen: 1 speed: 2.5 GT/s
    lanes: 1 bus-ID: 03:00.0 chip-ID: 8086:1043 class-ID: 2522

If it doesn't show ipw2100 or ipw2200 you will be fine. In case you still need them they will remain on our repos for a short while longer, but at the end of October they will be removed.. They are dead packages no longer being maintained.. So keep that in mind..

I do try to help where I can, when I can.
I do this on my own, so I might not have all the answers.
