Pacseek TUI Pacman search tool
#1
Hey all...

I just found a neat little tool called "Pacseek" which is a terminal user interface for searching and installing Arch Linux packages...

Quote:"Pacseek is terminal user interface which allows you to browse and search through the Arch Linux package databases as well as the Arch User Repository"

To install from AUR, just use following command :

- On XeroLinux :
yget pacseek-bin

- On other Arch Distros :
paru/yay -S pacseek-bin

Enjoy another neat little tool Wink

This TUI has already replaced Octopi and Pamac for me.
It was odd at first not having the eye candy of pamac but thanks to the lightweight, speed and integration with my keyboard-navigation it became more pleasant to use.

Design wise it integrates very well with different DE/WM. It is however made for people who already have an idea of what they are looking for.
If you want to discover new/unknown tools an assistant like Pacfinder will most likely be necessary (unleast you use the aur wiki directly).

Because pamac present both your search queries + the unknown programs of same categories it makes for a very noob friendly experience but once you get familiar with the repositories, the AUR and categories you can realize the advantages of the Packseek approach. (to me it is just much faster and more efficient)

Packseek's design has a no-BS philosophy that in my view makes it timeless.

I agree 100% but I still prefer Pamac coz it includes notifier and it handles .zstd packages something PacSeek doesn't do..
